Overview

This is an opportunity for individuals passionate about bikes and making a real difference in their community! As a Bike Mechanic, you'll embark on a journey of skill development and social impact, with full support and training provided.

UK Year of Service Overview:

UK Year of Service is a unique employability programme for 18-24 year olds, offering 9-12 months paid work in a socially beneficial role. It includes an embedded skills training programme, wrap-around support within and beyond placement, and support for exit routes into further education or employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic bike repairs and maintenance under supervision, learning fundamental skills required for bike mechanics.
  • Assist in assessing and diagnosing bike issues, collaborating with senior mechanics to ensure efficient repairs.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly and helpful manner, providing guidance on bike care and maintenance.
  • Support the organisation in planning and delivering community events focused on cycling and promoting a healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
     

Expectations

  • No prior experience required; we provide training and ongoing support.
  • Commitment to learning and developing practical skills in bike mechanics.
  • Willingness to actively participate in community engagement initiatives and events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment, respecting and valuing individual differences.
