The programme will run out of several community centres and venues across Birkenhead. These are detailed below.

Our Venues- The Lauries Centre

Based on Claughton Road, Birkenhead, The Lauries Centre is used as HYPE’s Central Office space.

This is where you will be meeting on day one of the training programme. Any written work, CV workshops, and presentations will all be delivered from this venue. Owned by Wirral Council, The Lauries is a great professional space for you to gain experience and boost your CV.

Located only a short walk from HYPE’s ‘Park Inner Park’ and ‘The Little T Room,’ The Lauries acts as a base room for the programme.

The Little T Room

‘The Little T Room’ is located in Central Birkenhead on Grange Road West, and will be a key venue for the delivery of our bike mechanics and construction workshops.

‘The Little T Room’ has been redeveloped from a disused shop front into a multifunctional community space. HYPE have managed the space for over three years, delivering youth clubs, art workshops, cookery classes, and bike workshops.

This venue will be used to deliver our skills workshops around bike maintenance and bike mechanics. HYPE’s new project ‘Soup & Cycle’ performs free bike diagnostics for the local community, and a free hot lunch! This is one of the many forward-facing community projects you can assist on.

‘Park Inner Park’

HYPE’s ‘Park Inner Park’ is 1/2 acre of secure ‘green space.’ The land is part of Birkenhead Park, but had become neglected over several years. HYPE has managed the space for 18 months and totally transformed it into a key community venue.

By linking internationally with park-spaces in New York and Cape Town, HYPE have an exciting calendar of events planned for 2018. There will be opportunity to get your hands dirty landscaping the space, supporting the expansion of our incredible edibles, and help construct garden furniture.

This training programme will give you the opportunity to help improve our ‘Park Inner Park’ and make a real difference to young people living in your communities.

Woodchurch Community Centre

HYPE also work closely with the team based at Woodchurch Community Centre, now renamed Carrbridge. Some of our employability sessions will be based here.

The space has been recently redeveloped, with a main hall that can be used for group work. HYPE are currently working in two ‘green space’ areas on the Woodchurch estate, one of which is based at the Carrbridge Community Centre. The other is a communal garden area on the other side of the Woodchurch.

There is lots of potential to work on these areas, and this programme will give you the opportunity to help transform these spaces for the benefit of the surrounding communities.

If you think this programme is right for you, please fill in the form below, and HYPE will be in touch soon.
